One of our faves, Nick Relph has his first solo show up at Gavin Brown's Enterprise.  The press release (available here) is an essay written by Relph that gives a compelling overview of the history of fabric dyeing and it's relation to color, film, luxury goods and real estate development.  

The collages look great, check the show out in New York and online.

Also of note, we have just one copy left of this similarly rad monograph from Oliver Payne and Nick Relph's exhibition at the Serpentine gallery available here:

Chicago Zinefest

This Saturday March 13 from 10am  - 5 pm Golden Age with be exhibiting in the first annual Chicago Zinefest at Columbia College. Bringing together many local artists and small-presses, the fest has a a huge exhibitor list with great artists, we'll see you there!

Craig Mod thinks about the future of books

Even though I read countless "pages" on my computer and phone, I've been hesitant to embrace the Kindle and iPad. As a book nerd, it's hard for me to imagine not having stacks of books on my desk, next to my bed, on the floor, and any other place where books can be stacked. In his essay, Mod suggests that those stacks won't leave, if anything he thinks they'll get better.

Of the books we do print — the books we make — they need rigor. They need to be books where the object is embraced as a canvas by designer, publisher and writer. This is the only way these books as physical objects will carry any meaning moving forward.

San Francisco: I Got 5 On it

If you happen to be in San Francisco this Saturday, be sure to check out the opening of "I Got 5 On It" at 31 Rausch St. Gallery. The show features the responses of twenty talented photographers who were prompted with five subjects - a chair, a flower, a window, a tree and a road -  to convey through photos.

The exhibition is curated by SF based photographers Amanda Boe, Chris Koperski and Adam Weir. The event runs from 6-10 PM and looks promising!
